Mangaluru, Apr 6: MLA U T Khader urged the union and state government to bring in a policy to ban violent online video games.

Addressing media here on Tuesday, April 6, U T Khader said, "The PUBG game led to the murder of a minor at KC Road. Violent online games like PUBG will turn youths violent. They will even resort to stealing money from their parents to invest in such games. They will eventually do substance abuse as well and that is when we can see behavioural changes in children."

"Society, school teachers, concerned department, representatives should get involved to put in place a long term system to avert such tragedies. There should be a counsellor in every school, something which is not implemented. Government should encourage institutions to have counsellors and keep assessment track," Khader said.

"The law and order situation has worsened in the district, soon a review meeting has to be called. People are afraid to stay at home as burglary is on the rise. Police should act immediately, it is a failure on the part of the police department. Lately, without any fear of the law, cases of moral policing are being reported," he added.

"During the state special executive meeting, they spoke about bringing in law against love jihad. But, after the gram panchayat elections, the matter never came up. On the other hand, Hindu organizations are conducting press conferences where they are instigating the youths to create disturbances. Police need to take strict action against them. If they are keen to voice against something, they should do so against the government and demand to bring in a law against love jihad," the MLA said.
