New Delhi, Apr 6: Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) has detected drug network that functions under the code name 'Kasargod Network' and supplies narcotic drugs illegally to Middle Eastern countries from India without giving room for any suspicion.
Officials at Qatar airport arrest at least 10 to 15 Indians every month on the accusation of possessing drugs with them. Most of the arrested belong to the said ‘Kasargod Network’. They reside in Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Kerala and Bengaluru. They keep in touch with one another through Voice Internet Protocol (VOIP).
Around 100 people are working throughout the country for this network. At present the members of this network reside in places like Wayanad in Kerala, Madikeri, Mangaluru, Kodgau, Bengaluru, Mumbai, Goa and New Delhi. Their activities are being monitored by the sleuths. An official of NCB said that this gang is smuggling the narcotics through six to seven airports of the country.
In 2019, Mohammed Shafique and his pregnant wife Oniba Kausar Shakeel Ahmed were sent under Honeymoon gift package trip to Qatar by Tabassum and her friend Nizam Kara. Narcotics were kept inside the package of gift that was presented to the couple. The couple were caught in Doha international airport and were put inside the prison. When the sleuths of NCB interrogated the couple, they unearthed the modus operandi of the gang.
Mohsin K P, who is in Qatar prison, is the mastermind of this network. NCB officials disclosed that members of Kasargod Network use various airports of south and western India to transport cocaine and various psychotropic substances that are smuggled from Jammu and Kashmir, Nepal and Himachal Pradesh.
