Mangaluru, Apr 5: The Ullal police arrested 45-year-old Santhosh resident of KC Road Pilikoor on Monday, April 5 for providing shelter to his son Deepak who is accused of killing 12-year-old Akeef over a game of PUBG.

Deepak who had come home after killing Akeef had confessed to his father Santhosh about the murder.

The police have arrested Santhosh for sheltering his son and for not informing the police about the murder. Santhosh, a lorry driver has been residing in Talapady for the last 30 years.

As Deepak is a minor, he has been produced before the Juvenile Justice Board on Monday. The Board ordered Deepak to be sent to a remand home.

As the police cracked the Akeef murder case, locals threatened Deepak's family. Given that only Deepak's mother and his brother are in the house, the Ullal police have continued to provide protection to them.

Shankara..Not repoting to police after knowing the sons heinous misadventure is a crime. You should be really blind to defend them.

Although the minor son has committed the heinous crime, it is not fair anyway to harass and threaten the whole family. While every one should show sympathy toward the family which lost their young boy, no one should not take law into their hand at any cost. Let the legal procedure take its own course.

I have been always advocating conventional school education for all. It can atleast give a basic common sense to people to understand that the parents are not responsible for some misadventure of the child.

Dont make it communal please. Extremely sad that our teenagers are ruthless today, but let us not flare things up. Sympathies to the family, may comfort be yours.

Since accused is a minor ,naturally all parents will protect their children first. But later they have to make their child to understand it is no way to hide and better tell the truth and self go to Police than getting whole family involved.People shouldnt make his mother and other children at home accused. Is a shock for whole family which they are not responsible.Hope father will not get any more problems than only arrest.Leave him .Dont make another family too suffer.

Its a natural human tendency that any parents would like to protect their minor children (forget minor they try to protect even adults)... In this case, a father did what he can do to protect his child although knowing the child has committed a grievous sin. God forbid, even if we were in his place then surely we would have done the same. Now the question comes, whether the minor who accidentally/intentionally murdered another 12 year old, is habitual offender such as hooligan in acts, spoiled brat, how good in studies, whether his past indulge in bad activities etc. If his upbringing is in such environment, then chances are very less that he can be changed in future.... Now once he gets his punishment for committing the crime of murder, then there will be less chance he will lead a good way. Inside the prison premises he may come in contact with other bad elements & his way of life can be more dangerous.... In Islam, there is an option of forgiveness with or without blood money depending on the person who is willing to forgive. Since here the father of the child is a lorry driver by profession, then there is very less chance that he will be able provide blood money... That's my personal opinion, I know its very very difficult for those who have lost their loved one especially when we loose a child/minor...If its an accidental murder & not done gruesomely, (I am not sure, I heard it was done by reciprocating by throwing a big stone which hit the child & due to heavy bleeding the child died, not something that child took a stone or knife & smashed the head repeatedly) if the minor has no past bad record & also pursuing his studies not a dropout hooligan, then the child should be given a second chance in his life....The parents should make their heart big & go for forgiveness, I know its difficult & cant get back their lost one, but atleast in front of Almighty they will have a high status, & also this world they will b remembered for their noble gesture..
