Mangaluru, Apr 5: Many activists have been objecting to the renaming of the Mangaluru international airport as Adani airport. Now they are mulling the option of going to court to get their demand met.
Many in coastal Karnataka had expressed opposition to handing over this airport to private operators and also about its name change. Among the activists, there were differences over what name this airport should bear.
Recently, the Airports Authority of India had issued notice to the Mangaluru airport on the chance of name, as the activists had written to them saying that changing the name of the airport is violation of rules.

Therefore, the chances of the issue of renaming the airport going to courts appear to be bright. The activists plan to collect opinions of legal experts and then file public interest litigation in the high court.
Social activist Dilraj Alva, said that brand value of Mangaluru should not be lost due to renaming of the airport. He said that the airport can be named after Koti Chennayya or other exemplary personalities who have brought laurels to Tulunadu.
