Udupi, Apr 3: As the intensity of Covid-19 is increasing in the district, deputy commissioner G Jagadeesha announced revised restrictions and directed concerned officials to make sure the rules are followed.
He has called for the discontinuation of the Vidyagama scheme for now. The DC further announced the discontinuation of other classes from Class 1 to 9. On the other hand classes for 10 and PU will continue. The examinations for only undergraduate courses will be permitted. Classes in colleges other than medical colleges have been suspended.
"Mass gathering in temples and other religious places is not permitted. Gyms, swimming pools and clubhouses should remain closed. No permission will be given to hold protests or rallies. RTO has been asked to permit only a stipulated number of passengers in transport vehicles. Theatres, party halls, clubs and restaurants can accommodate people only up to 50 per cent of their capacity. The concerned officials have been asked to ensure adherence to the guidelines," the DC said.
Shopping malls, markets, department stores, pubs, bars, clubs, restaurants that do not enforce Covid health norms such as wearing a face mask, maintaining social distancing and washing of hands will be ordered to shut down their businesses. Fairs and exhibitions are also restricted in the district.
Criminal cases under the Disaster Management Act and Karnataka Epidemic Diseases Act will be registered against the violators of the health norms. The restrictions and regulations will be in force until April 20, the DC informed.
