Bengaluru, Apr 3: The state government has revised its order of the earlier 50 per cent occupancy in theatres at the request of the Karnataka Film Chamber of Commerce.
Renowned Kannada actors Puneeth Rajkumar and Sayyeshaa had also expressed disappointment at the sudden move from the Karnataka government and claimed that it would impact the profits of the film. Puneeth Rajkumar had even requested the government to rethink the guidelines for theatres.
With the revised order the earlier rule of 50 per cent occupancy in theatres will come in effect from Apr 7.
Earlier, the state government had allowed theatres to operate in full capacity given the drop in Covid-19 cases. However, with the recent surge in cases, the state government imposed stringent guidelines to contain the second wave.
Theatres across eight districts, Bengaluru Urban and Rural, Mysuru, Kalaburagi, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Bidar and Dharwad were ordered to follow the 50 per cent occupancy rule.
