Mangaluru, Apr 3: Former corporator Prakash B Salian assumed his role as city block Congress president in a programme held at Town Hall here on Friday, April 2.
He vowed to strengthen Congress in the presence of district-level Congress leaders.
“It was assumed that he would win at least by a vote in the MCC elections as he had performed well as a corporator. Although he lost, for his work Prakash has been promoted to the role of block president,” said leader Suresh Ballal.
Former MLA J R Lobo said that the position is not a bed of flowers but of increasing responsibilities. “There are more responsibilities in the south. The party will benefit from Prakash Salian's able governance. It is necessary for everybody to refrain from criticizing him and come together to strengthen the party,” he said.
Opposition leader, A C Vinay Raj, Ibrahim Kodijal, Shashidhar Hegde, Vishwas Kumar Das, Kripa Alva and others were present.
