Passion of Christ: Good Friday observed across Mangaluru, Udupi

Mangaluru/Udupi, Apr 2: Christians across Mangaluru and Udupi diocese observed Good Friday on April 2, to commemorate the Passion of Christ and his death on the Cross.

The sermons across churches concentrated on wide and varied contemporary matters with a focus on the crucifixion of Christ. The service included the reading of the Passion of Christ, reciting a string of prayers, unveiling and veneration of the Cross and communion service.

The city and also other places of the diocese and also parishes of the Udupi diocese observed Good Friday with devotion.

Earlier in the day, thousands of devotees had flocked their respective churches to take part in the Good Friday prayer service which started with the Way of the Cross.

Mangaluru, Apr 2: Good Friday happens to be one of the most important days in the Christian calendar. This year, it falls on April 2, and parishes all over have been observing the occasion.

Thousands of devotees have been flocking their respective churches to take part in the Good Friday prayer service.

Way of the Cross, with which the occasion begins, starts early in some of the churches while in some, it is held later in the day.

Good Friday main service begins after 4 pm in churches. Church service today include the reading of the Passion of Christ, reciting a string of prayers, unveiling and veneration of the Cross and communion service.
