Mangaluru, Apr 1: The city police have arrested four more people in connection with the theft of a two-wheeler and a mobile phone after ambushing the rider on March 17 under the limits of Kankanady police station.
Police have arrested Akash Bhavan Sharan's brother Dheeraj alias Kutta (26) a resident of Anand Nagar, Akash Bhavan Kavoor, Rakesh Kambali alias Rakhi (25) a resident of Kalyana Adyapadi Bajpe, Rajesh Achari Yekkar (38) a resident Thenkayekkar, Sagar (23) of Nandapur, Akash Bhavan and Rajesh Tomar alias Rajibbar of Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh.
According to the police, the accused have confessed that they are associates of Sharan who is presently lodged in jail. Accused under the directions of Sharan used to threaten rich for money, run illegal businesses, smuggle ganja, operate as sand mafia, and indulge in other illegal activities. Sharan was also making efforts to strengthen his gang with the intention to be a 'don' in the region with all the ruffians working as his subordinate. He also devised plans to kill his rivals Pradeep Mendon, Monkey Stand Vijay and Gaurish alias Gauri.
It is learnt that Sharan's brother Dheeraj was involved in illegal activities like sand mining on directions Sharan. Accused Rajesh Tomar alias Rajibbar a resident of Khera Umari village, Bhind district, Madhya Pradesh had provided weapons to Chandra for the dacoity case which was reported in Kateel in 2016. He is also an associate of Chandra alias Chandra Someshwara, who was arrested recently. Rajesh had also provided a pistol to Chandra.
Rakesh Kambali the other accused has been booked under the POCSO Act in the limits of Manipal police station. Meanwhile, Rajesh Achari has been booked for assault and attempt to murder cases under the limits of the Bajpe police station.
During the interrogation, it is learnt that Sharan who is in jail for plotting to eliminate his rivals Pradeep Mendon, Monkey Stand Vijay and Gaurish, will be taken into custody after being produced before the court.
Gaurish, a resident of Kuntala, Bajal is booked in over 11 cases under the limits of Mangaluru Rural, Kavoor, Barke, Ullal and Kankanady police stations. He is a history-sheeter in cases registered against him at Kankanady, Barke and Kavoor stations. Gaurish who was earlier working with Sharan parted ways with him due to a financial dispute and started his own gang. Following this enmity, Sharan planned to eliminate Gaurish as well with help of Deekshith and Chandra.
It may be recalled that in connection to the case the police had arrested are Deekshith (32) from Kulshekar, Chandra alias Chandrahas Poojary (34) from Someshwara, Prajwal alias Hemachandra (34) from Kotekar and Santhosh Poojary alias Nayi Santhu (34) from Chelar, Suratkal.
