Mangaluru, Apr 1: Hours after two accused confessed of dropping the objectionable items in the offering box at Koteda Babbuswamy Daivasthana in Yemmekere and surrendered to the police, Vishwa Hindu Parishad on Thursday, April 1 demanded the police department to hold a detailed and a high-level inquiry into the case.
Addressing a press meet at the VHP office here, Sharan Pumpwell, the divisional secretary said, "Police department should hold a high-level inquiry and detailed probe into the case. Such incidents have been reported across 20-25 religious centres in the city. There is a conspiracy behind this act and police should crack the network," Sharan said.
The confession by the accused to the crime is a victory for the mass 'Padayatra' organised from Kadri Temple to Koragajja Kshetra in Kuthar by several devotes seeking justice. Within the 10 days of Padayatra, the deities proved the results. Such untoward incidents have hurt the sentiment of Hindus, he said.
"The accused Abdul Raheem and Thoufiq resident of Ambedkar Nagar, Kenjar, Jokkatte are in police custody and VHP demands that as per the law of land, necessary action should be carried out against them. Another accused in the case died due to illness, recently. The accused also confessed to the crime during the 'Kola' of Koragajja and was later taken into custody by police," he added.
District secretary, Shivanand Mendon and others were present.
