Beltangady, Apr 1: A gang which arrived on a bike and in an Omni car waylaid a pick-up vehicle and attacked two men in it.
The injured happen to be Abdul Rahim and Muhammad Mustafa. The injured have been admitted into the government hospital here. The police said that relating to the incident, four persons have been arrested.
Abdul Rahim, a resident of Kuppettu in Beltangady accompanied by Mohammed Mustafa was on his way to repair his pick-up vehicle on Beltangady church road in the evening on Wednesday March 31. They had dinner in the house of their relatives at Savanali later and were returning home.
When they reached near Melantabettu gram panchayat office at about 10.45 pm, two men who arrived on a bike asked them to stop the vehicle. As they stopped their vehicle, some more men who arrived in an Omni car alleged that the two men are transporting cattle and hit them brutally with sticks and footwear.
The gang also damaged their vehicle and posed death threats to them. Abdul Rahim and Mohammed Mustafa who were wounded in the attack are admitted to the hospital. Abdul Rahim has identified the attackers as Sabu, Rajesh Bhat, Rakesh Bhat, Guruprasad, Lokesh and Chidanand. A police case in this connection is registered at Beltangady police station. Rajesh Bhat, Rakesh Bhat, Guruprasad, Lokesh and Chidanand are arrested. Investigation is in progress.
