Mangaluru: Tanker rams into two-wheeler - Retired soldier killed

Kasargod, Mar 31: A 46-year-old retired soldier died in a road accident near Talapady on Wednesday March 31.

The deceased is identified as Dinesh, a resident of Udyavaraguttu. Pillion rider Yashraj sustained injuries in the accident and was hospitalised.

After his retirement, Dinesh was working as a security guard at GAIL pipeline in Kavoor here. It is said that a tanker plying from Kasargod to Mangaluru rammed into the two-wheeler the duo was riding. As a result, Dinesh was flung to the road and he came under the wheels of the tanker. It is said that the tanker driver fled from the spot without stopping the vehicle.

The mortal remains were shifted to the mortuary at Mangalpady taluk government hospital. Traffic police have launched a search for the absconding tanker driver.

Dinesh is survived by father Damodar, mother Leela, wife Sujatha and children Vaishnavi and Vaishudi and family members.
