Moodbidri: Serial dacoity at Bajpe, Gurpur by gang who arrived in two cars

Moodbidri, Mar 31: In shocking serial incidents that have occurred at Moodbidri, Gurpur and Bajpe in the wee hours of Wednesday, March 31 gang of dacoits who arrived in two cars looted houses and vehicle riders.

According to preliminary reports, a gang of dacoits attacked two houses near Moodbidri and smashed the windshield of a car that was parked nearby. The gang also looted a two wheeler rider.

The gang pelted stones at the house of Arun, a resident of Todar and smashed the windshield of the car that was parked inside the compound of the house. The gang also pelted stones on the house of Harischandra Nayak, a resident of Gandhinagar and kicked the front door of the house. They also smashed the windshield of the Omni car that was parked in the compound and stole Rs 4,000 that was kept inside the Omni. In both houses when the inmates got awakened by the sound of stones that were thrown at the house, the thieves managed to escape.

The gang of miscreants who arrived in a car waylaid and looted people, who were returning after working in a private educational institute that is situated near bus stand on Gurpur bridge on Bikarnakatte-Sanur NH 169 which falls under Bajpe police station limits. They looted cash and mobile from these people. As this incident took place in the wee hours, vehicle movement was less on the national highway. The gang which looted the people in the car was furious as the passengers in the car did not have much cash with them.

The gang also threatened a bike rider who was moving on B T Road of Kadandale and sprayed chilli powder on him, took cash and bike from him. A case in this connection is registered in Moodbidri police station.

All these incidents have occurred between 2 am to 5 pm of March 31. Dog squad and fingerprints experts have visited the spot.

Police commissioner N Shashi Kumar visited all the three spots where the dacoity took place. Moodbidri sub inspector Dinesh Kumar B S, assistant sub inspector Sudeep and police of anti-crime section are involved in the investigation.
