Bengaluru, Mar 31: If the lady who has complained against Ramesh Jarkiholi is able to provide evidence of her rape to the special investigation team (SIT), there is the likelihood of him being arrested. Therefore, Ramesh Jarkiholi is said to have shifted his base to Mumbai. He is likely to file for anticipatory bail in the case.
The lady featured in the controversial CD appeared from out of hibernation after a gap of 28 days and recorded her statement. She also faced the SIT questioning. She has again appeared for the SIT probe along with documents today. If she is able to prove beyond reasonable doubts about having been raped, the chances of Jarkiholi being arrested are thick. Therefore, Ramesh Jarkiholi has settled down in a hotel at Mumbai. He might apply for anticipatory bail in order to escape from being arrested.
Ramesh left Karnataka on Tuesday for Mumbai. It may be recalled that he had been claiming that he had not done anything wrong and hence there is no question of arresting him. Now, his advocates have reportedly advised him to apply for anticipatory bail.
The special investigation team is said to be keeping track of his movements and also about his current stay in Mumbai.
The lady has said before the magistrate that she was raped by Jarkiholi after earning her confidence by promising to secure her a job and getting permission to make a documentary. The advocates reportedly told Balachandra Jarkiholi about the seriousness of the statement made in the presence of the magistrate. After holding discussions till ate in the night yesterday, Balachandra checked on various legal options available. It is said that the advocates feel that bail application under section 438 of the criminal procedure code would be the best option.
The lady's medical examination may be ordered on Wednesday. SIT is making preparations for the same. Ramesh Jarkiholi’s problems have compounded after the lady's statement on Tuesday and the SIT questioning.
