Mangaluru: Surge in Covid cases - DC bans religious gatherings, celebrations in public places

Daijiworld Media Network – Mangaluru (EP)

Mangaluru, Mar 30: As the second wave of Coronavirus is spreading, deputy commissioner (DC) Dr Rajendra K V has announced imposition of ban on religious gatherings an celebrations in public places in Dakshina Kannada (DK) district.

The ban will be in force from March 29 until further orders. He has said that festivals or gatherings for Yugadi, Holi festival, Shab E Barat, Good Friday etc should not be held at public places, grounds, gardens, markets or religious areas during the ban.

There are possibilities of the spread of the virus at places where people gather such as fairs, processions, conferences, celebrations and religious programmes. Therefore all such public programmes are banned from March 29. The deputy commissioner has stated that more than five people should not gather in groups.

Actually churches and christian celebrations are most organized and they follow Govt rules according to the guidelines. Every time Govt trying to hinder the christian celebrations is not fair. Everybody can notice what is the situation in election rallies and Hindu festival processions. I saw one poor man in video was saying corona cant hit election rallies and hence instead of vaccine, conduct election rallies and get rid of corona

Close all schools and college as soon as possible cause virus is spreading through children as they are not able to maintain social distance There should be surprise vist to school by officials to see how the schools are handeling for example a college in mangalore that is named MAPS there are about 100+ students in a classi know this through my friends there and students are forced to sit 4-5 in a row There is no proper social distancing precautions taken by this college My friends there told me that when the college gets the news that the authority may come to check the classes are divided to sections to fool the department If such practice is done by such a reputed college imagine to what extent the virus may have been spread There are no shown symptoms in youth but they can still be carriers there are no proper testing facilities in mangalore Tests in govt hospitals take up to to 15days to come Exams are approaching and there are no precautionary measures take my schools and colleges across DK and Udupi There should be strict action taken against such institutes that concentrate more on making profit rather that health of the nation

yes DC should be more concerned about students being carriers, i am from maps and this is true. i travel in bus in the morning and i am scared everyday to go to college no proper social distancing in Mangalore busses people don't wear masks and busses get overcrowded and coming from a middle class background i am not able to go by private taxi paying 100 everyday and if i miss my bus to stay safe and catch a bus that is a bit less rushed college scolds us for coming late then in classroom there is no social distancing. Teachers don't wear masks students are made to sit 4-5 in a row and many students act over smart and don't care about family and not wear masks putting many in risk, college does not take any action regarding this issue. i am living with my grandparents who are 70+ years old and my parents are 45+ years old I MAY BE STRONG AND MAY SURVIE THIS BUT THEY ARE OLD AND WEAK. I request DC to take action on colleges and schools. THANK YOU

Bans, lock downs, curfew, non gathering will bring little change in curbing the pandemic. Its all with the public who need to understand and live accordingly. Its been over a year since the epodemic turned to pandemic and yet is it required to make awareness of the virus spread ???

People fed up with nonstop bans without proper decision and solution, we have experience d these bans during last Xmas and new year time and we knew Corona is interested to roam during our celebrations. After the Easter and Marriages Corona will take monsoon break .Where there is gatherings without safety and discipline chances of entering corona is more.Schools, Kalyana Mantapas and some worship places follow strict measures,.Children in school follows strict discipline also parents are more vigil , if you the close the school, children will tend to enter in to public during leisure time , what about the cinemas, , religious celebrations and political activities without mask and negligence on roads ? Headlines about public gathering ban and KATINA KRAMA , Dhanda/ Fine only for poor people but remember Corona doesn't care the rule .

I think so this order doesn't value anymore. Thanks

Good Decision taken by the DC. We need to understand that this is for the good of the general public. With gathering comes the risk of increase in Covid cases which will lead to lockdown. Most important thing right now is to stop the spread of the virus. Religious services/festivals come every year. I am catholic living in Dubai and I have not attended church services since Feb 2020. I pray at home with my family and watch online church service. "For where two or three are gathered together in my name, I am there among them". Considering the pandemic, I am sure all religious GODS will understand and bless us. For now let us think about the health of our family members, elderly people in our home, people who might going through medical treatments, etc.

Don't misuse the Bible to skip mass. If you are Catholic, you should know that we also follow doctrine and traditions along with the scripture. Mass is as important as scripture. At mass, we celebrate the sacrifice of Jesus in the Holy Eucharist. As Catholics, this is very important. Online mass isn't okay anymore. You need to physically attend. There's no excuse. Remember the 3rd commandment.

Dear DC, I request you to have a check on the private buses, overcrowding is always there. Just one day check is not enough to prevent Covid. Please have a check on all the 15 number buses plying during 8 am to 10 am and also after 5 pm. No one even wears a mask nor maintains social distancing. Its good if you can also give us more government buses to reduce spread of covid through public transport and not only highlight about spreading through place of worship.

State or District Admin will take decisions based on their ground reality not on what other state do. If you think he has overstepped his authority , there are legal way to challege it whcih you are free to pursue. He is samrt, thats why he is sittign in that presitgious chair as we argue here sitting on media pouncing on each other.
