Puttur, Mar 30: Two ladies from Dakshina Kannada district have been chosen to serve the Border Security Force (BSF) that keeps vigil on the country's borders. They will report to their BSF bosses and begin to serve the force on April 1.
The girls who have cleared the rigorous process of selection of the BSF are Ramya from Balnadu and Yogitha from Kanoyoor in Kadaba taluk. Ramya happens to be the daughter of Padmayya Gowda and Tejavathi couple from Balnadu.
Both had undergone medical examination during February last year, but the result was declared late because of the coronavirus pandemic. Ramya was trained in the National Cadet Corps during her school days.
Yogitha M, daughter of Malekarchi Medappa Gowda and Devaki from Kaniyoor in Kadaba taluk too has been selected for the BSF. She will report for duties at Tekanpur, Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, on April 1. She holds MSc degree in microbiology from Mangalore University.
Both the girls have decided to venture into a domain that was earlier dominated by men, and serve the nation. This is a proud moment for their families. They also are backed by the appreciation and support of their respective villagers.
