Mar 28: One death, 115 new corona cases in Udupi; Dakshina Kannada reports 68

Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 28: Udupi on Sunday March 28 again saw a sharp rise in the number of coronavirus cases, with the district reporting as many as 115 cases in a single day and one death, while Dakshina Kannada reported 68 new infections.

As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 6,26,012 samples have been tested so far, out of which 5,90,450 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 35,562, out of which 572 are currently active.

As many as 52 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 34,248.

The total number of deaths due to coronavirus in the district stands at 742.

With cases steadily increasing, the district administration has urged people to strictly continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.


Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, as many as 4,14,182 samples have been tested so far.

As many as 115 new cases were reported on Sunday, taking the total number of cases to 25,061, out of which 824 are currently active.

As many as 70 of the new cases were reported from MIT campus.

A total of 27 patients were discharged from hospitals on Sunday, taking the total number of recoveries to 24,046.

Out of 115 new patients, 113 are in home isolation while two are in COVID hospital.

Among the 115, as many as 93 are asymptomatic.

While Udupi reported 84 of the 115 cases, Kundapur recorded 24, Karkala seven.

The district reported one new death on Sunday, taking the toll to 191 so far.

Till now, 80,012 people have received the first dose of vaccination, while 17,779 have received the second dose.
