Mangaluru/Udupi, Mar 27: Dakshina Kannada on Saturday recorded 39 new cases of novel coronavirus. As per the Dakshina Kannada district health bulletin, a total of 6,23,659 samples have been tested so far, out of which 5,88,165 have turned out to be negative.

The total number of positive cases in the district stands at 35,494, out of which only 556 are currently active.

As many as 79 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday, The total number of deaths due to coronavirus in the district is 742.

The district administration has urged people to continue maintaining social distance in public places and wear masks when stepping out of the house. Anyone not wearing a mask would be fined by the authority.

Over 38,310 mask violations were reported in the Dakshina Kannada district and Rs 39,45,730 in fines have been collected by the authorities.

Udupi

As per the district health bulletin, Udupi reported 156 new cases, as many as 4,11,752 samples have been tested so far.

71 are currently active and 171 patients were discharged from hospitals on Saturday. The district has reported 190 deaths due to coronavirus so far.
