Mangaluru, Mar 27: Thieves who entered a house located away from others at Malali Narlapadavu within Bajpe police station limits on Friday March 26, succeeded in stealing gold ornaments worth Rs ten lac. No one was around when the theft took place.

House owner, Sadashiva Sawant, lives near the cashew factory at Narlapadavu, HIs wife had left for the family's areca nut plantation located a little distance away in the morning. Sawant had been to the city for some work. The theft came to light when he returned home.

As the front gate was locked, the thieves entered the house from the rear side. They broke open the almirahs, searched in detail and took away various gold ornaments. The thieves seemed to be aware about the conditions of the house like its location away from other houses, people not being at home etc. They had used the iron blade of the plough to break the bolt of the door.

Bajpe police along with sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts visited the spot, conducted scrutiny and registered a case. The police suspect that this was the handiwork of more than one person.

There is a sustained effort to push the people put whatever savings they have in stock market. Banks these days people don't trust that much and low returns on FDs etc., many does not think it is worth investment. Alternative is to go for gold, keeping that at home, is getting more riskier day by day. Robberies are getting regular and police seem to taken a stand to go slow in catching them. Finally only two options remain either to go for land or stock for good returns. Land middle class cant go for with the uncertainties around, stock is the only option, which looks attractive, but it is the middle class that burns itself in every decade when the stock market crashes.

Realty mkt both rental & sale has gone down by 30-35% with extreme slump in demand! Commercial & non commercial both will show continued downtrend because of WFH culture! Stock market has become a gambling den controlled by operators with tacit support of authorities! Common investors always lose their entire investment! Situation is pathetic!

Jossey S .Saldanha, mumbai, nowadays lockers also are rare .because almost everyone comes to keep it in lockers.Second sometimes people bring and keep at home for a marraige or visit on friday since Banks are closed on Sunday and holidays.Sometimes banks also dont care .Once my gold in locker can not to be taken out as Bank lost papers.long back.Best is in future people should lock their rare entry of the house carefully. Many enter through rare door since noone sees.Keep a camera at rare door .Keep gold not in house but in cattle house or bath room.

Like this situation better to have two good dogs. Tie one dog front door and another rear door when you go out. We used to do this in the village. Practical solution.

People should hide jewelry in a difficult place to guess. Or buy a strong locker with alarm and conceal and bolt it to the floor or wall.

In one of the instances, thieves robbed the entire locker by removing the bolts. I think Bank locker is safer place in case if nobody stays at home during the day. Hope the police cracks this case and jail the culprits!
