Udupi: Use of Kannada should be practised without fail - DC Jagadeesha

Udupi, Mar 27: Deputy commissioner (DC) of the district, G Jagadeesha, instructed all the government offices, private institutions, industries, factories etc to transact in Kannada without fail. He was speaking after presiding over the district level Kannada Jagruti Samithi meeting held at the auditorium of his office on Friday March 26.

Noting that 'Kannada Kayaka Varsha' is being celebrated now, he directed the officials of all the government departments to make use the official emblem released by the government in their routine correspondence. He also told them to mainly use Kannada n Twitter and Facebook, upload Kannada software in the computers, use of Kannada numeric and words in government vehicles and boards, giving prominence to Kannada in mile stones and highway boards etc. He also advised the zilla panchayat to have Kannada as an agenda in the KDP meetings.

Jagadeesha said that 60 percent of the space in boards hung in front ofs hops, company offices, hotels, commercial complexes, cine theatres etc should be covered in Kannada. He also said that disciplinary action will be initiated if annual rate list, estimates, tenders etc to newspapers are released in English. He also advised education department officials to check whether central schools are imparting Kannada as a language.

Assistant in the department of Kannada and culture, Kumar Bekkeri, said that orders favouring Kannada are being properly implemented in all the segments of the administration. He said that orders in Kannada and Kannada copies of circulars are available in Kannada Development Authority websites.

Zilla panchayat deputy secretary, Kiran Pednekar, Kannada Sahitya Parishad president, Neelavara Surendra Adiga, and others were present.
