Byndoor: Pedestrian killed in hit-and-run accident

Byndoor, Mar 26: In a tragic incident, a person standing by the side of the road was killed after a car knocked him down at Taggarse in the tlauk. The victim of the incident was Dasappa (42).

A Maruti Swift car bearing Bengaluru registration number that was coming from the direction of Kollur hit Dasappa who was standing by the roadside at Taggarse. Dasappa suffered serious injuries to his head due to the force of the car. The locals carried him to hospital immediately but he had breathed his last before reaching there.

The car driver tried to escape by speeding away without stopping anywhere. It is said that he had moved towards Bhatkal via Shiroor and Toodalli. The Byndoor police chased the car. By then, the driver had stopped the car at Belandoor near Bhatkal, and escaped from there. In the operation conducted by Byndoor police circle inspector Santosh Kaikini and police sub-inspector Sangeetha, the team succeeded in finding the car immediately. A case stands registerd in Byndoor police station in this regard.

Dasappa was the driver of a goods career rickshaw. He had good rapport with everyone in the area. On account of his unexpected death, an eerie silence enveloped Taggarse. Dasappa has left behind his mother, wife, a daughter, siblings and relatives.
