Udupi: Ideologue hopes 'Janadhwani' will be BJP government’s funeral procession

Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (HB/SP)

Udupi, Mar 26: Ideologue Harsha Kumar Kugwe, wished that the 'Janadhwani' Padayatra undertaken by the Congress will prove to be the funeral procession of the BJP government. He urged the people to take to streets and fight against the BJP so that it culminates in the BJP biting the dust in the entire country. "Our concern is to end the autocratic style of administration," he said when addressing the valedictory programme of 'Janadhwani' Padayatra of the Congress organized in front of the Badagubettu panchayat office here on Thursday March 25.

Kaup (north) block Congress had organized the 16-km long walkathon from Perdoor to Badagubettu, to register protest against the central and state governments on Thursday. The programme was initiated by district Congress committee president, Ashok Kumar Kodavoor. Former minister Vinay Kumar Sorake, and several other leaders and dignitaries took part in the event.

Harsh Kumar said that the nation was built neither by undertaking foreign trips nor by sitting in luxury bungalows. "It was built by patriots who worked hard in farms and fields and also those who put in sincere work elsewhere. The current government is out to destroy the economy of the country. When people come together and hold protests, their plan is to oppose by igniting fire. This happens to be the agenda of the BJP," he stated.

Harsh also stated that activists of the Sangh Parivar are well trained in torching things. He said that these activists also know that the people can be fooled by making false claims about patriotism.

Sorake in his address, said that 45 percent of Badagubettu voters had cast their votes in favour of the Congress. He asked people not to allow use of the panchayat to conduct real estate business. "The BJP has never allotted a site to anyone so far. They use their power to give work on contract," he said. He also challenged the BJP to test how far they can intimidate people into working for them, duly adding that the Congress will continue to be closely associated with the people whether it is in power or not.

Mentioning about price of fuel including petrol and gas, he criticized the Lok Sabha members including Shobha Karandlaje for not raising this topic. He said that the grant released for Malpe - Thirthahalli state highway upgradation during the last seven years has been diverted elsewhere. He said that development works are going on only in Uttara Kannada district. Sorake said that the report prepared by the Congress by collecting the people's opinion has been assigned to the waste basket, and Kasturirangan report has given rise to turmoil in the state. He recalled that when the Congress was in power, many projects had been undertaken in the district and highest grants were sanctioned to Udupi district.

Kaup (north) block Congress president Praveen Shetty, leaders M A Gafoor, Ramesh Kanchan, Janardan Bhandarkar, Harish Kini, Shantaram Sooda and many other taluk and block level office bearers and members were present.

One thing true, people are suffering, daily wages, construction workers without job due to government policies on sand, jalli, quarry stone. Plight of construction contractors and transporters less said the better. Transport owners are most hit. They lose their permit for transporting stones. How they are going to recover the money spent on registration and taxes if they can not work ? How they can pay employees! Most so called culture protection masters do not work and hence they can not feel the pain of working class and woes of fuel prices, Now most of such people are crying secretly I heard....can not openly criticise their frustrations! Toll at short spans is another major burden. Everyone will support ruling regime if they make life of common man a bit easy and not miserable.
