Puttur: Thieves loot four jewellery stores including one near police station

Puttur, Mar 25: Thieves entered four jewellery stores including one located near the town police station here on the night of Wednesday March 24, taking away gold ornaments and silver valuables from the shops.

The jewellery store near the police station, where the theft took place was Sridhar Bhat Jewellers, located in a portion of commercial complex titled Sridhar Bhat and Brothers. The complex is situated by the side of the main road here.

The thieves who forced the rolling shutter open, broke the lock of the slide gate inside. They then stole gold ornaments and silver valuables. The incident came to light on Thursday morning.

Gold worth Rs 20 lac has been reportedly looted from Sridhar Bhat Jewellers. Sadari Jewellers, Sri Navami Jewellers and Hiranya Machine Cutting & Jewellers, are the other three shops were the thieves striked. Police have undertaken investigation regarding the same. 

The police visited the spot and began investigation. Strangely the town police station is located within a distance of 50 metres from the shop and the women's station is 25 metres on the other side. The traffic station is situated just 25 metres on the backside.
