Mangaluru: Thieves decamp with over 700 grams gold jewellery, Rs 5 lac cash

Mangaluru, Mar 25: The thieves who targeted a house in Konaje Kodijal, struck it rich. They returned with over 700 grams of gold ornaments and Rs five lac in cash.

The theft happened in the house of Abid, a resident of Kodijal, on the night of Wednesday March 24. The thieves who entered the house of Abid during late night hours, stole the ornaments kept inside an almirah in the bedroom. Abid happens to be an areca nut dealer and had reportedly brought back home cash pertaining to his areca nut trade.

The marriage of Abid's niece was to be held shortly. Therefore, he had brought gold ornaments kept in the bank locker, it is said.

Konaje police have visited the spot and begun investigation. Sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts will be visiting the spot and undertake investigation. Police sources said that the value of gold ornaments stolen is over Rs 20 lac.

    Very bad .great loss.I am sure some insider who knew about this must have done.First of all till the marriage gold could have kept in bank safe . when then dont keep the gold or big amount of money in almeira as usual.Only keep some money there .rest big amount in a unusual place where one doesnt suspect.In almeira keep fake gold .Now we have to learn how to safeguard ourselves.Good times are gone .Even our next neighbours or own relatives If these person is having a Insurance,can seek helpHope soon the thieves will be caught.How they could come in without knowledge of house owner?If any cctv camers was installed might have a idea.

    Please don't disclose about your personal valuables with anybody except your wife/husband and tell them keep it personal not to make it pubic. Always speak slowly inside the house. The walls also have ears. Be Careful always. Don't talk much with outsiders. outsiders are outsiders. You never know how they behave behind your back.
