Now, central India records about 40 degree Celsius temperature during the day while the coast clocks 36 degree Celsius. Because of increased temperature, sea water gets evaporated and results in the formation of clouds. With the help of wind, the clouds scatter and cause rains. During the pre-monsoon season, thunder and lightning are experienced more. Skymet meteorological department in its report said that pre monsoon activity is expected to start in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, south and coastal Karnataka from March 21.
The coast has been experiencing evening rainfall at some places. During this period, normally the foot of the Western Ghats gets the highest rainfall. Places like Sullia, Subrahmanya, Beltangady, Karkala etc have experienced rain already. Because of the rain, temperature has come down a little and the water issue has been addressed. The report also points out that at the beginning of this year, rainfall this time was much more than usual.
Sunil Gavaskar, scientist of Karnataka State Natural Disaster Management Committee, says that there is a possibility of rain for a few days because of trough and wind discontinuity at the upper layer of the environment. Sporadic rainfall with thunder and lightning is likely, he stated.
