Udupi, Mar 24: MLA K Raghupati Bhat, along with Udupi-Chikkamagaluru MP Shobha Karandlaje, met the union minister and sought grant of Rs 288 crore for road development.
Under the leadership of MP Shobha Karandlaje, Bhat met union minister for road transport and highways, Nitin Gadkari, on Tuesday March 23. He pleaded with the minister to sanction a grant of Rs 288 crore for the development of Thirthahalli-Malpe national highway 169A into two lane between Hebri and Hiriyadka and four lane road from Hiriyadka to Parkala and from Adi Udupi to Malpe.
In the proposal submitted the MLA has sought immediate grant of Rs 24.08crore for land acquisition for road development from Adi Udupi to Malpe, and Rs 288 crore for the development of roads as above. The minister, who responded positively, instructed the officials to see that the project is executed without delay.
Development of these roads has been very much necessary for the development of the district. Bhat has thanked Shobha Karandlaje for arranging the meeting with Gadkari and convincing him about the state of the road and need to develop the same. He also thanked the minister for immediately responding to the request and ordering quick actions on the proposal.
