Udupi: 'There should be special counter for ‘patriots’ to buy petrol at Rs 200' – Vinay Kumar Sorake

Daijiworld Media Network – Udupi (HB/EP)

Udupi, Mar 23: “Petrol should be sold at the rate of Rs 200 in separate counters to patriots who say that the rise of petrol and diesel prices is for the welfare of the country. Let them buy the fuel at those rates if they are real patriots,” challenged former Kaup MLA Vinay Kumar Sorake.

He was addressing media at Udupi press club regarding Kaup north zone block Congress committee’s ‘Janadhwani’ protest rally. He said, “Kaup north zone block Congress committee will hold ‘Janadhwani’ protest rally which will be a foot march on March 25 from Perdoor to 80 Badagubettu to create awareness of the anti-people policies of the central and state governments. The rally will start at 9.30 am covering a distance of 16 kilometres proceeding via Hiriadka-Parkala-80 Badagubettu and will conclude in front of Badagubettu panchayat office at 5 pm.

“Amendments made to APMC Act, Land Reforms Act, Labour Act, Electricity Act and Essential Commodities Act are anti-people. The prices of petrol and diesel have increased due to government cess. It has increased the cost of transport, prices of essential commodities, cement and steel without control. Some of the items are removed from the list of essential commodities. As raids against hoarding are not possible, it has created artificial scarcity. The demand to include oil prices under GST has become only a dream. The recent policy of discarding old vehicles as junk is aimed to make vehicle companies prosper. Poor vehicle owners are badly affected by it. There is a ban on stone crushers. Improper implementation of sand policy has made construction workers jobless.

“The government at the centre is selling several government owned organizations that were started by the Congress during the last 60 years. LIC, Railway stations, banks, more than 100 government and semi government organizations are being privatized. It is a failure of the government. Thousands of people will lose their jobs because of them. People are realizing slowly that the policies of the government are going to be disastrous for them. It is the duty of Congress to create awareness among the people and show to them the direction to which the government is heading.

“Financial irregularities of Rs 40 crore have occurred in the name of dredging in Swarna river. The direction of Varahi drinking water project has changed. The rally will be held condemning the rampant corruption in the government,” he said.

Speaking on the central government, Sorake said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi who did not respond properly even after uninterrupted protests by farmers for the last 110 days, will tweet on all other subjects.”

Responding to the allegation of Udupi BJP district president that cracks have developed in Congress, he said, “Everyone in the Congress are united. But there are several groups in the BJP such as Lalaji Mendon, Yashpal Suvarna, Suresh Shetty Gurme, Kuilady Suresh Nayak, Mattar Rathnaker Hegde etc. They do not see each other and speak,” he said wryly.

Ashok Kumar Kodavoor, president district Congress committee Udupi, Harish Kini, chief secretary, Nagesh Udyavar, Congress’ Pravin Shetty Korangrapadi, president of Kaup north block Congress committee and others were present.

Search is ongoing since past 7 years for the looted money while the government coffers are hit rock bottom. PM's relief fund is empty, contingency funds are empty, PM Cares newly created but still selling petrol @93.50 per liter ?? Where is India's money going ? Is BJP looting now ? But Congress didn't empty government coffers as BJP did ?? What is happening, Sanjay Hebri ? Do you have any clue ??

Karna, do you remember that Sonia's husband was a working PM when he was assassinated ? Which makes her a rightful receiver of his full salary as pension till she is alive ?? Besides, she was an MP from the time she came into politics ?? So now Karna... sit back and calculate her INCOME. Then think why she shouldn't be a richest woman in the world, because as an MP, her complete expenses are at taxpayers cost. Think - double income but no expenses.

And Mr Karna must also realise that all who speak against the present government policies are not necessarily fans of Sonia. They also voiced opinion during congress rule. Now let us be realistic and oppose what is causing hardship to our day-to-day life at present. No need of pointing finger at old regime.

If we look at the current situation and the attitude of Indian people they are ready to pay rs.500 per litre. Paid media made our people like robots and lost self thinking power. One media channel is propogating why Modi increased petrol and diesel prices and justifying the hike.

Sorake is a politician he will talk what ever he wants, there is no political party in India, which can promise the voters that if they come to power the petrol price will be this amount. Once they are in power they will forget what they spoke in the press conferences when they were in opposition. If sorake is for reducing the petrol price, his party can tell voters of the poll bound states that if we are elected to power in Kerala and tamilnadu we will not levy the state tax on petrol.

Joe- I agree with you, however when GST tax regime started states have only 2 sources for their revenue. one is liquor and other is petrol and deseil. States are charging VAT and reducing 50% vat also will not bring much relief to the users of these items because vat is charged on base price of petrol and diesel whereas excise and cess charges from central govt are main culprits of price increase

Today is the birthday of that Yale University graduate and the person who became B.Com part 1 after B.A. in the previous election affidavit. She was doing a lot of tamasha and insult to Manmohan Singh when petrol price was 63. She also sent bangles to him as a mark of a challenge to his manhood. Today, when the price is near 100 and that too international crude oil price is half, she as well as many BJP politicians and film actors are in the rat hole and are still praising Modi.
