Bengaluru, Mar 23: Over 50 BJP legislators met chief minister (CM) B S Yediyurappa on Monday March 22 evening and urged him to see that party MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal, faces stern action for speaking against his own party chief minister, ministers and others openly.
The MLAs expressed anger at the fact that Yatnal did not mend his ways even after the party high command issued him warning. They noted that Yatnal has been indulging in diatribe against the CM day after day, the MLAs stated. They urged the CM to convince the high command to take disciplinary action against Yatnal or to bring pressure to expel him from the party.
Sources said that the MLAs said they were expecting the party state president to take action against Yatnal through the high command. They apprehended that Yatnal's statements might work against the party's prospects in the panchayat elections.
It is learnt that the CM was disinterested to discuss about Yatnal. But MLAs like Araga Jnanendra, M P Kumaraswamy, Poornima, Srinivas, Madaliu Virupakshappa and M P Renukacharya urged him to act fast.
These MLAs also were critical of the functioning style of certain ministers. The CM promised to convene a meeting on March 25 and solve the pending issues on the spot in the presence of the ministers concerned.
