Do we really deserve smart cities ?! Not with such people. I'm not saying that cops don't do mistakes but not in this case. I've watched the video and that isn't something I'd want my family to watch. Getting beaten in public so mercilessly. All of the attackers should be booked. Just imagine if they were from a minority community. These people would have been called terrorists and charged for destruction of the property and the whole community blamed.

Devaraju, who was moving in his motorbike, saw from a distance that police were checking vehicles near RMP Circle. Devaraju tried to avoid the checking ------ for what reason... was he on some illegal mission...? he paid a heavy price for avoiding the police... he could have subjected himself to checking... if there was something wrong, he would have paid fine / or bribe... now he paid heavy price by losing his life...

Police checking of vehicles should be restricted to Sundays and holidays when there is less traffic and people are not running for their lives and Livelyhood on working days. Such checking is becoming a common feature almost everyday and should be avoided.

Are you ok, Anthony? Whats the point in checking on sundays? Just bcoz ppl have to run around on work, it doesnt justify, illegal riders / drivers on road under influence of alcohols, minors, and ppl without license...speak sense, bro.

i loved every punch that was given to polcemen..They should know that Home minister has barred them from checking vehicles on highways and busy roads..They should better check at traffic lights when vehicles come to stand still. Good job Mysurians.. Full support to you..this cannot be done by the pukkalu people of DK and Udupi

Why we always see Traffic Police on negative sense. Yes there are some corrupt cops but that does mean that every policeman are bad or what Police do is bad. Checking for helmet & mask, For who's safety one wear helmet & mask. Its not Policeman died or get injured if there is a motor bike accident. Every individual have some responsibility. Assume this victim is a terrorist and on his way to plant a bomb in some public place. Then don't you want police to check or do you want police to allow him to pass. Why someone has to run from police if they have not done anything wrong.

As far as i know i s that By law, even as the home minister has declared in assembly, it is not permitted for the traffic police to stop vehicles to check vehicle records, unless and until, some obvious violation is noted. This should be confirmed, and if true, it should be demanded that police in mangalore who are on a high stopping vehicles in the city to stop this violation

Everyone has smartphones now and a facebook app. Whenever police stops just go live. That is the only solution for the abuse of power by the police.

The police should not become victims of a fault in which they are not to be accused. Beating up the police should not be encouraged. The checking for documents should be done round the clock 24/7. Starting the checks from 10 am to 2 pm and again from 3 pm to 6 pm gives room for the defaulter to go around without documents during the rest of the time. The accidental death of the victim can be believed as many of the defaulters take dangerous U-turns without even ensuring that the vehicles would be speeding behind them. Sad that the police became victims of assault that was not of their making.
