Beltangady, Mar 23: A young engineer who was proceeding to attend his own office inaugural was killed in an accident which happened on Monday March 22 at the Artila road bend near Maladi in the taluk.
The deceased was B Muhammed Mazin Ali (26), son of Abdul Basheer from Madhwa in Kavalapadoor village, Bantwal taluk. Mazin had arranged to open an engineering office in partnership with another at Maddadka. The office was to be inaugurated on Monday. Ali had left his home at Madhwa and supervised arrangements for the office inaugural. He had returned home to change his clothes before the guests arrived for the inaugural, and was returning to the office when the accident took place.
The deceased was the nephew of zilla panchayat member Shahul Hameed. Shahul, who was moving to the office inaugural, immediately shifted Mazin, who had fallen on the road with his bike, to Beltangady government hospital. But the young engineer's life could not be saved.
A case relating to the accident was registered in Punjalkatte police station. The police said that the accident happened as the wheels of Mazin's motorbike skidded. Father of the deceased, Abdul Basheer, is employed abroad. Mazin was the eldest of Basheeer's three children.
