Mangaluru Mar 20: Former MLA Mohiuddin Bava handed over a cheque of Rs 1 lac to the owner of Kapila goshala Prakash Shetty for construction of a temporary goshala.
Addressing media here on Saturday March 20, Bava said, “In the name of cow, BJP had come to power. After the demolition of Kapila goshala, the cattle are orphaned. We are deeply saddened with the demolition of the goshala. The BJP government did not make any alternative arrangement for the cows. The decision of demolishing the goshala was taken during the zilla panchayat meeting in the presence of the MLA. We also urge the deputy commissioner to grant half an acre of land for the goshala. What is the MLA and state government is doing on the issue?
“It has been 20 days since the demolition of the goshala and still no alternative arrangement has been made. I will handover Rs 1 lac for the construction of a temporary shelter. I am also ready to take initiative to help Kapila goshala and will request the MLC to grant Rs 5 lac for the same,” he said.
Owner of Kapila goshala Prakash Shetty said, “It is very difficult to relocate 300 cows overnight after the demolition. We were taking care of the cattle providing them all facilities without taking any help from the government. It is our effort since 8 years and we want to preserve this for future generations. The government has done injustice to the cattle. Those who came to power in the name of cow, have put these cows in deep trouble. I have my own two-care land. In this regard, we have requested the deputy commissioner for an approval. Sri Rama Sene have come forward to help us construct a permanent goshala. For gopooja, MLAs Vedavyasa Kamath, Dr Bharath Shetty and minister Kota Srinivas Poojary visited Kapila goshala. After the demolition, no one came to see us.”
When asked about Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat’s accusation of claiming Prakash Shetty to be a butcher, he said, “Bhat says that he got that information from those who slaughter the cows. This means that he is in constant touch with those who slaughter cows.”
Bava challenged Bhat to prove that only Muslim community consumes beef and Hindus do not consume the same. “If he proves that, then we are ready to everything he says,” said Bava.
