Daijiworld Media Network - Udupi (SP)

Udupi, Mar 20: The district administration has since arranged for suitable night stay facility for the candidates who are participating in the army recruitment rally going on in the city.

As many as 1,000 candidates have been accommodated in the Rajangana and parking area of Sri Krishna Math while 300 more have been provided facility at Ambalpady temple. A thousand candidates have been accommodated in G Shankar College, Vivekananda School and Bannanje Mahalingeshwara temple. A round the clock help desk has been started near the Ajjarkad army memorial where the candidates are provided details about their stay and other facilities.

Many candidates who fail in the recruitment process opt to stay back in the city. This is giving rise to space problem for them. In this connection, additional deputy commissioner Sadashiva Prabhu, held a meeting with the head of the army recruitment division, Col Dubash, municipal president, municipal commissioner, Udupi tahsildar, and officials of the police department. Prabhu instructed the officials to take suitable steps to manage the situation.

From Saturday, G Shankar College will be fully dedicated to provide a stay facility for the army recruitment candidates. It was noted that many candidates arrived several days before the date set for them, while those who fail to clear the tests also stayed back.

Peter While I respect your view, I want to reply to you, why I did not try in Army and Air Force again. Immediately after that, I got a good job with high salary in a British Pharmaceutical company in Mumbai, where I worked for 20 years. Later, I joined Arabian American Oil Company (Now Saudi Aramco) the world's largest oil producing company and world's most valuable company, by market capitalisation. Hence question of unemployment and begging is not applicable to me.

In this columns, people say send them to boarder for guarding the terrorists. Friends, see, now out of these thousands of people aspiring, only a handful of people will be selected. With good education and normal physique, I was not selected in the Army, Air Force, There was a recruitment of Lieutenant officer in the Navy at Chennai and there were 500 candidates and out of them, believe it or not, only 2 were selected. One was my cousin Alfred Aranha. Selection in Army, Navy and Air Force is very tough, specially officer post. In the scenario of unemployment, there may be millions of youth in India to join, but there are limited vacancies.

99 percent of the guys loafing around in the evening, I saw yesterday in udupi city with trackpants and shorts are from north karnataka. It is really funny that the army is recruiting in Udupi whereas candidates are from north karnataka.. It seems the whole country is confused after 2014 chaiwala taking over the regime..

Cant agree more on this with you. They are roaming around in groups and not providing even space for a car to pass.... Not one of them is wearing a mask. The road from ajjarkad looks like a ghetto with so many uncouth people lying on the road. I totally don't get it why is the recruitment happening in Udupi...I am sure not even 0.1% of them will be from Udupi DK

Roshan, people who go for recruitment for these kind of low class jobs in defence are totally unguta chaps or just passed 10th std. You know for sure the standarad of education in north karnataka.. so it is quite obvious that people from DK and Udupi distircits will not get into the defence as they have other options like going to gulf and other countries and earn handsome money..
