Mangaluru Mar 19: Executive director of Pilikula Nisargadhama, Gokuldas Nayak announced that the Pilikula development authority which was proposed a few years ago is likely to come into force from April 1.
He spoke during the study tour for journalists to Pilikula Biological Park on Friday, March 19 organized by Dakshina Kannada Working Journalist Union.
"The development authority will have 23 members. The district deputy commissioner will be the chairman of the development authority. A commissioner will be appointed for the same. The members will also include MLAs of Mangaluru south, north and Moodabidri constituencies along with experts in the field of wildlife, science, heritage, tourism and fisheries," said Gokuldas Nayak.
"Due to pandemic, visitors to the Pilikula Biological Park has come down drastically by 50%. During weekends over 2,000 visitors come to the park, while on other days there are around 500 to 600 visitors. The revenue has dropped by Rs 2 crore amid pandemic. Once the authority comes into force, there are some existing projects which need to be developed and there are few projects to be completed," Gokuldas Nayak added.
