Mangaluru: Family sleeps through break-in; cash, jewellery stolen

Mangaluru, Mar 19: In an incident reported from Thokottu Olapete in the city outskirts, 15 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs 5,000 in cash were stolen on the night of Thursday March 18 when the family members were asleep.

The theft took place in the house of Jayaraj, residing near the over bridge at Thokottu Olapete. The family members did not wake up even though the thieves entered their house by removing roof tiles. A woman in the house, who heard some sound sometime later, raised an alarm at which the thieves escaped.

Based on complaint, a case was registered in Ullal police station.
