Karnataka govt approves Rs 100 lac to support Kambala in DK, Udupi

Mangaluru, Mar 18: With an aim to support the traditional sport of the coastal region, the Kambala event (buffalo race) the state government on Thursday, March 18 approved to fund of Rs 100 lac through Karnataka State Tourism Development Corporation, Bengaluru, to hold the event in DK and Udupi districts.

The government has approved Rs 50 lac for 10 Kambalas (Rs 5 lac to each Kambala) in Dakshina Kannada and Rs 50 lac to 10 Kambalas of Udupi district through the respective deputy commissioners.

The government approved the grant with certain conditions which state that the amount should be utilized only for the cause for which it is being released. The sanctioned fund should be effectively and completely used for the purpose. The fund utilization certificate should be obtained from charted accountants. The respective deputy commissioner can identify the Kambala.

The Kambala should attract the maximum number of visitors and should be organised by a team. The member of the team should belong to a single-family.

    I personally know Kambala event organisers are rich family and its a prestigious issue for them. This money should have used malnutrition children food, Old age people, Child education etc.

    Are we in a banana republic?Is it a joke?So much money for a kambala?Govt has no money for improvement of school buildings,no money for other toilets n schools or public places to improve.Who plans this ?really sad.Time to think for voting next time .
