Udupi, Mar 18: G Jagadeesha, deputy commissioner (DC) of the district has instructed to get the medical health check-up of 5,000 students of Manipal Institute of Technology (MIT) Manipal as the cases of Covid-19 infections cases are rising in the campus.
In a video message on Facebook, the DC has also informed that the educational institution is already directed not to hold any offline classes at the campus. Only online classes are allowed. Also no written examinations are allowed inside the college.
The DC further said, "None of the students living in the campus of MIT are allowed to go out of the campus. Information is relayed to the health department. If this campus gets more coronavirus infection cases, there is a high chance that the infection will spread faster. As the number of infected people rose by 25 to 27 suddenly, on Wednesday, the campus was declared as a containment zone. All the shops and shopping malls of Manipal area should be on high alert."
DC Jagadeesha also said that use of face mask and hand sanitizer is made compulsory in public places.
