Mangaluru, Mar 18: As the cases of covid-19 are spiking in the twin districts, the Dakshina Kannada Health and Family Welfare Department on Wednesday March 17, issued a show-cause notice to the three institutions-a PU college, nursing college, and a deemed-to-be-university.
As per the reports of a leading English daily, the health department have directed the colleges to give clarification in three days. If the given clarification is not satisfactory, the institutions will be booked as per the Epidemic Disease Act. The health department also sought answers on why the students were sent home and over the failure to take preventive measures in the initial stage to contain the spread of the second wave of Covid-19.
On Wednesday, out of 72 positive cases, 25 cases were from a paramedical college, two from a PU college, and three from a first grade college. Nearly, 13 cases had international travel history.
The administration has declared three containment zones in the district which include two hostels of deemed-to-be-university, PU college, and three hostels of the paramedical college.
