Bantwal: Road asphalting done - Space where car was parked left untouched

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (SP)

Bantwal, Mar 18: In an incident which happened at Vittal in the taluk, those asphalting the road were found to have left the space where a car was parked, untouched.

When the road was being tarred in the main downtown at Vittal, a person had left his car by the side of the road. As the car was locked, those attending to the road work continued with their work, leaving a rectangular patch where the car was parked untreated. People who photographed this patch have posted pictures in the social media, duly making them viral.

Asphalting of the road had started on March 16. It is said that the car owner did not know that the road work was being undertaken there. Those who asphalted the road had laid the asphalt till the car wheels.

The engineer concerned said that work is currently going on elsewhere and that the left out space will soon be asphalted.

Smart city can be achieved only with Smart administration and equal support from our Smart Citizens. Surprised to see most of the comments blaming and maligning the Administration/Contractors alone.

Curroption at peak. They dnt bother abt work quality and work progress. At the end they bother about their bills. Nd concern dept bothered about percentage commission. This case they could have towed the car.

If notice was given by the authorities, then parking was wrong. But knowing lethargic attitude of Govt departments I am not surprised with people not being aware of the job. Even then you should have towed the car and proceeded with the asphalting. Why such a big thing about it? or else ask the car owner to do it by themselves.!!

Lac of parking space! What contactor or Engineer could do in this case, do he need to wait till car owner comes back. They could have reported to police and police could have towed away car.

The Contractor in charge of asphalting the road should have taken care to see that no car is parked on the roadside before the area was asphalted. He could have displayed signs indicating 'work under progress - No parking'. People must have been parking by the side of this area since ages. No parking board is not visible in this area. Since the Contractor has indicated that the Asphalting of the patch will be completed, it is better to forget the issue. However this news has created some awareness to the readers.

What's the fuss ?? well, the car should have been towed before the work . but the " Engineer said it will be patched up when the car is moved." don't see any corruption or negligence in this matter.

"The engineer concerned said that work is currently going on elsewhere and that the left out space will soon be asphalted." Each MOB and De-MOB incurs revenue. So does a small patch worth raw-material preparation. Take the entire cost from the irresponsible owner of the car. Confiscate the vehicle with time limit, if failed to pay, auction it off and recover the charges. Irresponsibility at the cost of taxpayers' expense should be punished.
