Corona-positive cases surge in Karnataka, breach 1,000-mark


Bengaluru, Mar 18 (IANS): In what could be termed as an apparent sign of poor adherence to Covid safety protocols by the public, Karnataka reported over 1,200 new fatalities related to this dreaded virus, health department said on Wednesday.

With this, the total number of caseload reached to 9,63,614 and the death toll to 12,407 since the pandemic broke on March 8, 2020.

Bengaluru reported 786 fresh cases on Tuesday, taking its Covid tally to 4,13,485 with 7344 active cases, while recoveries increased to 4,01,610, with 279 discharged in the last 24 hours.

It said, out of 10,220 active cases, 9,299 patients are in isolation at designated hospitals and are stable, while 134 are in ICU.

Among the deaths reported on Tuesday, three were from Bengaluru Urban and one from Mysuru.

Positivity rate for the day was 1.47 per cent and case fatality rate was 0.31 per cent across the state on Tuesday.

    it was not a proper move to open up places of worship.... prayer, worship can be done at home... it could have been suspended till the virus vacated...

    Yes...very true.....If one has faith, can pray from anywhere....places of mass gatherings should be closed down...for few weeks..

    Covid cases increasing daily even after vaccines been found.. Looks like either coronavirus is fake or the vaccines are fake

    @Sandeep just getting vaccinated is not enough. People have to take precautionary measures which is not happening. Also most of them only got the first dose. There is no use of vaccine if you don't take the second dose.

    Second dose will be after 28 days from the first one...even after taking one need to wear mask and maintain social distance..Then how this vaccine is helpful?

    You need to wait atleast 10-14 days after the vaccine to show it's effectiveness. Also note that ,the vaccination is not a cure. The person might get covid but his/her symptoms would be very minimal or no symtpoms at all.
