Bengaluru, Mar 17: Karnataka’s deputy chief minister Dr C N Ashwath Narayan, who is also the higher education minister, has taken his responsibility as BJP election in-charge in the neighbouring Kerala state quite seriously in meeting leaders of different religions and pilgrim centres in a bid to woo the electorate.

On Wednesday, he visited Amruthapuri near Kollam in Kerala and met Mata Amruthanandamayi and obtained her blessings.

Dr Narayan shared his views on the improvements in the education sector taken by the state government and also discussed the problems of the youth.

"I was keen to visit the ashram of Mata Amruthanandamayi and obtain her blessings. I used to call on her and meet her whenever she visited Bengaluru. The service and contribution of Amma on education, social, food, health and housing sectors as well as in guiding the youth in life situations is exemplary,’’ he said.

"I am blessed by the divine experience of seeking blessings from Mata Amritanandamayi at Amrutapuri. Amma is a true embodiment of the spirit of 'Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam' and Universal Love. Her unwavering contributions to society are second to none and an inspiration to all of us,’’ he added.
