Mumbai, Jul 16: Nitesh Rane, son of revenue minister Narayan Rane, has demanded that the municipal corporation take action against 46 builders for not building rainwater-harvesting facilities in their new projects as per the civic rules. He said his outfit, Swabhimaan Sanghathana, will not allow Municipal Commis-sioner Swadheen Kshatriya to move around in the city if the action was not taken in 15 days.
His outfit has issued warning letters to all 46 builders who were surveyed by them.
The outfit prepared a report on various residential societies and commercial buildings in Malad, Chembur and Bhandup constructed post-2002 without implementing the system and had gained the Occupation Certificate from civic body.
Rane met Kshatriya and demanded action to raise groundwater table. Kshatriya said, “We’ll check if the buildings set up rainwater harvesting systems, which is mandatory.”
