Karkala, Mar 17: In connection with the attack on a person identified as Anil Poojary from Nitte village, a member of Hindu Jagarana Vedike (HJV), police personnel attached to the rural police station here, on Tuesday March 16, arrested three persons. They are Sunil, Prasad and Sharat, all from Nitte.
A gang had forced its way into the house of Anil Poojary at Nitte on the night of March 14 and attacked him with a sword. The police who registered the case, had launched a manhunt, succeeded in taking the trio into custody from near Beluvai when they were travelling by a car.
Sunil, Sharat and Prasad reportedly Bajrang Dal members. The police in the meanwhile, are looking for two more relating to this incident.
The police are taking steps to deal sternly with those who attempt to disturb peace in the society. The operation to nab the culprits was executed by Karkala rural station police sub-inspector Tejaswi, and town station sub-inspector Madhu B E under the guidance of deputy superintendent of police, Bharat Reddy and police circle inspector Sampath Kumar.
