Going by the synergies of scale. merger of Banks was a good move. unnecessary too many top management exist with huge salaries and perks. This also does away with unviable branches too. needless to say that huge professional costs on micro audits and branch audits costs affects the bottom-line. If strong controls of money laundering are in place, the Risk of NPA are considerably reduced. in most of the cases, the borrowers under invoice to their related entities transfer profits to such entities. while the entity that has borrowed becomes bankrupt, the money is transferred indirectly to related entities. Lot of frauds are committed in LCs, bill discounting and other short term business Loans.

Right or wrong is always a perspective and perspectives change accordingly .here the real crises was the banks was sitting on NPA'S and not declaring it to safeguard their stock market reputation. The last nail in the coffin was insolvency and bankruptcy code 2016 which made the banks come out in open and then the rot was discovered .many banks were unable to continue on is own hence the decision to merge to get working capital etc.we need to accept that these changes are for the good ,yes many strong business men have looted the banks but thats the game syndicate bank gave Rs 8 lakh loan to Mr dhirubhai ambani and you can see were he landed today.being optimistic indian banking system created by stalwarts will sustain.

These Strikes are redundant ..The systems are online ..there is no service disruption whatsoever ..The only time we physically need to visit any bank is for address change or phone number change or KYC .. These old staff should be given early retirement ..Please go on a holiday .. Stop sitting in your office and talking about "erena mage bombaida ? aye dhadhe bele manpunu ? or Erena Magal USA da?" India lost 20 Years of growth due to Congress and its chamcha's

I for one do not have soft corner for PSU banks. The employees there serve from the 5-star lounge. They provide service to the likes of Mallya (tip of the iceberg) without much paper work and make tax payers pay for pulling the NPA ridden banks out of their self inflicted losses. The staff in general are arrogant and extremely immobilized to their chairs and attitude is not worth the 21st century services desirable from the Banks. If you and me go to the bank for loan, they will insist that we put everything on the table as collateral and will strip you bare if you failed to pay back. It is the only business which earns premium profits and takes zero losses on its own. Loss is either passed on to the customers or to the Government of the day. GOI already has post offices in rural areas which also provides banking service of equal quality as PSU bank. There is no need for mismanaged PSU banks to stay afloat because they have branches in rural areas. Instead GOI can upgrade the postal banking. Private banks although give good service are much more efficient and largely managed well except in the case of Chanda Kochar when loan is disbursed to the husband for money laundering. I last visited the bank was 2 years ago and do all my transactions online. Strict oversight by RBI can help and manage the private banks. Other advanced countries are doing well with that kind of an arrangement.

I'll answer your curiosity. These are the bankers who are worried about the grave tomorrows the public would have to face if in case banks are privatised. Privatisation leads to closure of rural branches, lesser education loans, increase in min balance criteria, higher service charges which a common man would find difficult. There was a reason why private banks were nationalized in the year 1969 and 1980. It was done for the upliftment of a common man. Going back to pre 1969 times by privatising is a foolish move by the present government which has become a puppet in the hands of few cronies.

Anush, Mangalore If one has to go with your logical explanation then why the government is not formulating policies for governance of private banks for an inclusive banking services in rural as well as urban areas with reasonable service charges. In one hand the banks are looting the common citizens then helping the rich to get away with thousands of crores loans unpaid. Then where is the justification. These striking bankers are the lousy ones who don't want to work hard and held accountable for their failures and misdeeds.

Many are UNMASKED now. Anyways i am banked with a Private bank also, who are courteous and helpful, banked a big amount today, LOSS for a PSU Bank, but maybe they dont care about me or servicing me. They should rename the Bank, the Employees and Branches as "Out of Service" Bank/Employees/Branch, it will be apt. There are a few good ones who also get bad name for the disservice of many.

You are misunderstood my friend. Private banks are not courteous and helpful towards you but instead towards your deposits. If they are courteous and helpful towards people why don't they open branches in villages. Also it's never a loss for PSBs, its always a loss for the public itself if you are depositing your money in a Pvt bank instead of a PSB. Lakhs of engineers and doctors today are because of Education loans provided by PSBs. Only providing good customer service to few class people shouldn't be appreciated, instead working for the collective growth of the masses which in turn develops a country should be encouraged.

As long as we public tax payers accept anything offered by our elected as well selected public servants these kind of protests and strikes will keep continuing for ever. Nothing is going to change and no body cares. After all kis ka baap ka kya jaatha hai...... everyone wants everything for free. That's why even after 72 years of independence we are still not able to feed, clothe and shelter our population.

If there is any complain in the bank the manager is busy or gone on visit. Here they have time to protest. Improve your service/ work in the bank, than giving excuses to customers when they visit your bank/ branch. Most of the protesting bankers voted for the present Government and now protesting against them.

You should understand that the bank staff who are on strike sacrifice their 2 days salary, only to safeguard public's money. Service can be improved if necessary steps are taken from the customer's side too against erring employees. Leaving the branch in a angry state and not taking further actions will not improve the service. Every branch will have contact of the branch controllers whom you can contact in case of any issue related to the branch. But today's generation wants everything around them to be perfect without their effort.

Disgraceful. These lazy bankers fear loss of their jobs as privatisation of banks will lead to performance based employment. These lazy bank employees have enough time to protest by they have zero patience with customers. Again by this protest they are disturbing customers

Customers might be disturbed for couple of days because of the strike, but you should realise how massively it would affect a common person if banks are privatised. Rural branches would be closed and hence no easy access to banking for the majority as most of the people in India live in rural areas. You should understand that the private banks adhere only to the class people and not the masses. How many private banks have opened branches in villages? Privatisation will only widen the gap between poor and the rich which is not good for the overall growth of the country.

Pharmacy Companies goes on strike when medicine prices are increase, Business Men goes on strike against GST Implementation and now Bankers goes on strike against Privatisation !!! In fact common public should go on strike, because we are paying for medicines, we pay GST and we lose our deposit money when Banks goes on huge NPA Are these people losing their job? expecting salary deduction? or forced to work more hours than usual? Then why they against Privatisation??? People struggle to get job.... but once they get job..... these all drama continue Really "Hamaara Desh Mahaan"
