Udupi, Mar 15: RTI activist Shankar Shanti’s cousins Vijay Poojary, Sarvotham Poojary and Ajith Poojary have alleged that their names have been wrongly included in the list of accused people due to the vested interest of those involved in the assault of Shankar Shanti.

Sarvotham Poojary speaking at a press conference said, “There is 3-acre of land that belonged to our grandfather in Hanahalli village, Barkur. A case to claim it is pending in the Kundapur civil court. Shankar Shanti has registered a criminal case against me, my aunt, my elder brother and my aunt's kids to prevent us from stepping on the land. This has led to us paying a visit to the court several times between 2011 and 2012. Shankar Shanti and his mother are enjoying the house, the coconut farm. He has unnecessarily registered criminal cases against us, disrupting our studies, opportunities to work in the hometown or elsewhere, ruining our peace, creating hurdles in our progress,” he said.

“The inclusion of the names of Suresh Poojary, Vijay Poojary, Sarvotham Poojary and Ajith Poojary in the case dated February 20 has malicious intent. We are innocent. We have proof that we were not involved in the incident. We will even present this evidence to prove our innocence,” he said.

“We have informed Billava Yuva Sanghatane president, Praveen M Poojary about the matter. Unfortunately, he did not respond positively to it,” he said.

Vijay Poojary, Sarvotham Poojary and Ajith Poojary were present at the news conference.

RIP RTI. RTI was crippled by govt in 2019 by cutting its powers and now its going to become another govt persecution tool as govt has passed order that govt will not only 'itself' select RTI commissioners but also their tenure.

Where there is money ,land is there ,there is always many to claim it.All feel that they have share .When a such rich person dies, then starts the quarrel right on the grab or even before he has been taken there.Best is ,end this quarrel ,give this farm or whatever the land is to someone else .They all should earn their own ,working with own hand. All are giving Press conference.Shame to all who quarrel for this land of their elders.and not eligible to it.Why not the their grandpa not divided before and gave to equally? Now everyone is quarreling for it
