Bengaluru, Mar 15: Sources have claimed that the lady in the sex CD depicting Ramesh Jarkiholi, which has rocked his political career, has been taken into custody from Hyderabad by the special investigation team (SIT) on Sunday March 14.
The woman was residing with the family of an acquaintance in Hyderabad. On Saturday, she had released a video. The SIT officials, who stepped up investigation, took the lady into custody Sunday in an operation led by a lady police inspector. Another team has taken into custody two persons including the kingpin journalist involved with the release of the CD. They were brought to the forensic science laboratory at Madivala on Sunday night and kept in investigation rooms.
The police had, after finding out the mobile phone number of the lady on Sunday morning, had sent notices to her WhatsApp and e-mail addresses. The team also had contacted the owner of the house where she stayed in the past and some friends, duly asking them to keep them informed if the lady gets into touch with them. Notices were also pasted outside the doors of the houses of her grandfather in Vijayapura district and her parental house at Gudur village.
Notice was also pasted on the door of a house in Basavana Bagewadi town. This house has been identified to be the lady's grandfather's house. It is said after her grandfather died a few months back, no one is reading there now.
The lady from north Karnataka was studying engineering at Bengaluru. She knew a youth from the last five years. The two had fallen in love and had decided to marry each other three months back. The youth's family was also convinced about the alliance. The youth had even taken her to his home and introduced to his family members. Therefore she was also in contact with that family. Now, her lover has also been taken into custody.
Reportedly, out of the three who were taken into custody from Hyderabad, one was the kingpin of the CD while the other was a close friend of the lady who extended support in the CD episode. It is said that the lady who had stayed in a rented home at R T Nagar here, who went into hiding in different states for a few days after the CD became public, had called the house owners during this period, to apologise for the problems created because of her. She had told them that she would be vacating the house in a few days.
The former journalist, who is said to be the kingpin of the CD, has earned lacs of rupees in the deal. He had prepared to buy a Fortuner vehicle, XUV 500 and a jeep, it is said. He also planned to acquire land in Kodagu and Mysuru districts and had paid advance amount through the middlemen, sources said.
The Sadashiva Nagar police registered first information report based on a complaint made by Nagaraj, who is close to Ramesh Jarkiholi. The case has been transferred to the SIT. SIT head Soumendu Mukherjee, held meeting with joint police commissioner Sandeep Patil, deputy commissioners of police Anuchet and Ravikumar, assistant commissioner of police Dharmendra, inspectors Maruti and Prashanth Babu for about two hours about how to handle the case, how to collect information, how to question the lady etc.
