Moodbidri, Mar 14: As many as five members of a family including three children have gone missing from Karinje here, under the limits of Moodbidri police station.
They have been identified as Jyothi Mani (36), Manoranjitham (56), Debora (11), Jude Emmanuel(10) and Hepsibha (8), all residents of Swarnanagara in Karinje.
A complaint in this regard has been filed by Jayaraj Shekar, husband of Jyothimani.
Shekar stated that his wife, three children and mother-in-law had gone missing, along with Rs 1.40 lac in cash and gold ornaments that had been kept in the locker.
Shekar's wife had reportedly mortgaged her gold ornaments without the knowledge of her husband. Upon the mortgaged gold, she availed a loan of Rs 1.80 lac and handed it over to her friend. After Shekar came to know about the issue, he asked his wife to bring the gold ornaments back. Following this, all five people went missing.
A case has been registered in Moodbidri police station. Speaking to daijiworld, police officials confirmed the incident and said that the investigation is in progress.
