Mangalore: Air Crash Victims’ Families Form Registered Association

Mangalore Jul 14: The newly formed ‘Mangalore Air Crash Victims’ Families Association’ organized a press meet at press club here on Wednesday July 14.
Addressing the media persons, association president Mohammad Beary said that they have come up with the association mainly to help the victims’ families with regard to compensation and facilities given by the government.
He also said that the Karnataka and Kerala governments so far have provided compensation to the families of victims’ in their respective states only. He insisted the Karnataka government to provide compensation to the families of victims in both the states as the incident took place in Karnataka.
According to Societies Act, the association was registered on July 8 with two legal counselors and 13 members.
The civil aviation minister Praful Patel will visit the city and meet the victims’ families in a condolence meeting TMA Pai Convention Hall on July 27 and there will a thanks-giving programme for those who were involved in the rescue operations and helped the families, informed Beary.
Association secretary Dr Jayasimha Shetty said that valuables such as gold ornaments have not been handed over to the victims’ families and requested Air India to exhibit the belongings retrieved from the air crash site which will help the family to identify them.
Organizer of the association Abdul Rahiman, Vice-presidents Varadaraj Karyangal and Narayan were present at the press meet.
