Bengaluru, Mar 14: The Cubbon Park police have served notice to the woman allegedly involved in the sleaze CD incriminating former minister Ramesh Jarkiholi. The police have asked the woman to appear for inquiry, and have also served notices to the PG owners, relatives and friends of the woman. Notice has also been sent to the woman's house in her native place of Basavana Bagewadi in Vijayapura district.
The case has been transferred to SIT which has already searched the houses of three people who are presently in custody.
Meanwhile, an FIR has been filed in Sadashivanagar police station here based on the complaint lodged by Ramesh Jarkiholi that a 'conspiracy' was hatched against him to force his resignation.
The young woman had on Saturday March 13 appeared on video and claimed that it was Jarkiholi himself who had released the tape, and urged the police to give her protection. Interestingly, what raised eyebrows was the timing of her video, which appeared barely an hour after the complaint was filed by Ramesh Jarkiholi. In the video, the woman also said that she and her parents had tried to commit suicide a few times.
The state women's commission has come to the aid of the woman. Speaking to media, Pramila Naidu, president of the commission said that home minister Basavaraj Bommai has assured of providing protection to the woman and her family.
"I have watched the girl's video. She has asked for protection. A suo moto case will be filed in the wake of this video. I have spoken to the police commissioner. The girl should not get discouraged. She should not commit suicide. Suicide is not a solution for anything. The women's commission is ready to provide her protection," she said.
In the meantime, investigation is in progress. Five people have been arrested so far. On March 1, a day before the release of the CD, the five had allegedly held a meeting at an unknown place in RT Nagar. They had discussed the CD for more than one hour, and after its release, had gone their separate ways.
Understand the conspiracy behind the video, says Ramesh Jarkiholi
Meanwhile, Ramesh Jarkiholi said said that the fact that the woman who could not be traced for 12 days suddenly appearing in the open now points to a 'conspiracy'. "The public needs to understand the scale of this conspiracy," he said.
"I have met the home minister. He has instructed SIT to investigate the whole case with seriousness. I have appealed for quick investigation. That is why the girl has come out with the video. This is part of the conspiracy."
Reacting to the query of the woman filing complaint, Ramesh said, "If she wants to file a complaint, let her file it. I will face whatever comes. You will come to know after the investigation that I am innocent. I have not committed any mistake."
