Mumbai, Mar 11: Andheri east, Vijayanagar resident Professor Shiva Billava (65) passed away at Seven Hills Hospital, Andheri east on Saturday after a brief illness.

He hailed from Naikanakatte, Byndoor, Kundapur and was an alumnus of Kannada Bhavan Society school, Fort. He later served as professor of the college run by the same society.

He was an economics professor and had taught in several colleges in the city. His stories and columns were published in several newspapers in Mumbai. His Koti Chennaya story was published in English.

He was an active member of Gurubharathi Study Centre. He had received an award for his Aithihya Kathana English essay. He was involved in the editorials of Guruthu monthly magazine. He was also an office-bearer of Sadananda Suvarna Cultural Foundation and Karanthotsava committee.

He has left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and a large number of friends and relatives.
