Mangaluru, Mar 11: In the coastal region of Karnataka, Daivas are revered more than Gods. There is also a belief that the Daiva will not spare anyone who commits sin. Thousands of examples are there to prove this. However, on social media the names of these Daivas are being used for abusing and writing derogatory comments. So a group of youths of Tulunadu have sought legal action against the netizens who write derogatory comments and use their names on their social status.

At present scores of photos of popular Daivas of Tulunadu are seen as status on Facebook and WhatsApp of many social media users. In addition, some put background music, which is not at all related to the photos and share them on social media. Some even used the names of Daivas for troll pages and fun. That is why, a group of youths by the name 'Yuva Tulunad' has declared war against such misuse of photos and videos of Daivas and will take legal action against those who will be using this on social media.

The eminent personalities of this group had warned the netizens of misusing the names and photos of Daivas on social media. But as the netizens did not care they have resorted to legal action now. They have submitted a complaint to Mangaluru city police commissioner N Shashi Kumar. In addition, they have registered complaints with proof at various police stations across the district including cybercrime police.

Police have already traced the admins of 72 such Facebook groups and got them deleted. In addition, the cops have also taken underwriting from them not to repeat the offence.

The surprising fact is that the group of Yuva Tulunad, who have started a movement against using the names and photos of Daivas of Tulunadu, is led by two Christian youths, Roshan and Rithesh D'Souza. On the whole this is a warning to all those using photos of Daivas of Tulunadu on social media. Legal action is for sure.

Daiyvas are part of our culture in Mangalore. They add to our diverse heritage. Actually we have been neglecting the development of the rich culture for sometime now. We can start cultural tourism in DK with the Kola, Aata, Yakshagana, Kambla and enhance our rich cultural heritage and enviroment.

See the difference. How tolerant these youth are. They just want to file police complaint as per the rule of the land. They do not behead people who defamed, They don't chop their hands, they don't burn publishing houses.. Education and upbringing is the difference.
